CPS contracts with the University of Colorado, Denver, to provide NSF-funded researchers with remote medical services. While in the field, participating researchers have access to physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via telephone, satellite phone, telex, HF radio, computer or facsimile.
Upon request, CPS will provide participating researchers with a field first aid kit with over-the-counter drugs and supplies. Please note that no prescription drugs are issued. PIs wishing to take prescription drugs into the field must contact their personal physicians. The CPS-issued kit will be issued to the PI or lead field team member, and will become their responsibility for use in the field. The kit must be returned to CPS at the end of each field season. CPS will maintain the kits and refurbish them prior to re-issue.
